Consume soft or pureed foods for 2-5 days after your surgery. You should slowly progress to a regular diet during the second week. Your meals should be served room temperature for the first 24 hours after surgery. Extremely cold or hot foods will irritate the surgical sites. If you were sedated for your surgery, we suggest that you avoid dairy products for the first 24 hours after surgery as well. Any spicy or acidic products such as oranges, pineapples or tomato juice should be avoided for at least 3-5 days after surgery.
Avoid crunchy foods such as: popcorn, chips, poppy or sesame seeds and grains. The following lists are just a few suggestions for post surgical meals
Cream of Wheat
Soup (clear broth)
Diet Drinks (Slim Fast, Nestles)
